چکیده

Experiment is reported of enhanced backscattering of light in binary and ternary suspensions of rutile and/or alumina particles. With a conventional CCD camera system for observing the phenomena, the angular line shape and the enhancement factor were agreed with the theoretically predicted curve and value. Observation of the angular distribution scattered at the backscattered direction supported the hypothesis proposed by Pine et al., in which the transport mean free path of the polydisperse mixture can be expressed in terms of summing its reciprocal values weighted over the particle sizes*. key words: enhanced backscattering, random media, particle suspensions, camera observation system

Optical coherent backscattering by random media : an experimental study

2014 A detailed experimental study of coherent backscattering of light from aqueous suspensions of polystyrene microspheres is presented. Emphasis is on the effects of particle size, of absorption due to added dye and of light polarization on the shape and height of the backscattering cone. For parallel polarization of incident and scattered beams, the scalar diffusion theory, parametrized by t...

Correlations among angular wave component amplitudes in elastic multiple-scattering random media.

The propagation of scalar waves through random media that provide multiple elastic scattering is considered by derivation of an expression for the angular correlation of the scattered wave amplitudes. Coherent wave transmission is shown to occur through a mechanism similar to that responsible for coherent backscattering. While the properties of the scattered wave are generally consistent with r...

Dependent and multiple scattering in transmission and backscattering optical coherence tomography.

We use transmission and backscattering optical coherence tomography (OCT) to distinguish and quantify dependent and multiple scattering effects in turbid media. With transmission OCT the dependent scattering coefficients for a range of monodisperse silica particle suspensions are determined. An excellent agreement is observed between the measured dependent scattering coefficients and calculatio...

Coherent backscattering of light from random media with inhomogeneous gain coefficient

We study theoretically the coherent backscattering cone of light from an amplifying random medium using realistic gain profiles which are spatially inhomogeneous. By taking into account correctly the amplification of multiply scattered waves, we are able to obtain quantitative agreements with the measured data presented in Phys. Rev. Lett. 75, 1739 ~1995! by Wiersma et al. and resolve the discr...

Enhanced and specular backscattering in random media

We study scalar waves probing a heterogeneous medium whose parameters are modeled in terms of a statistically isotropic random field. The medium is terminated by an oblique interface at one end (the bottom) and pressure release type boundary conditions at the other end (the top). The tilt of the (bottom) interface is relatively small so that the dominant contributions to the wave field are conf...
